Printed from the original watercolor by Silvana Olivo, the pangolin (Smutsia temminckii) is the most trafficked animal on the planet. Solitary, shy and nocturnal, pangolins – of which there are 8 species between Africa and Asia – are the only mammals covered in keratinous scales, which is what is causing their rapid decline. They resemble armoured anteaters and their tongue is almost as long as their body.
